DIY It – A Woven Wicker Storage Basket

With fall on the horizon, and the cooler temperatures easing their way in (albeit slowly), I have been trying to add a bit of cozy warmth to my home. First up is this woven yarn wicker storage basket. While technically it isn’t woven, this simple project is just perfect for storing a few warm throws and extra pillows. And it comes together in about 30 minutes, so there really is no reason for you not to make one for your living room (unless you have pets, because that may just be a disaster! ha!).

Supplies:
  • Chunky yarn in your choice of colors (I went with a coral, teal, pink, mustard, navy, and orange)
  • Wicker storage basket (this one was from Home Goods)
  • Scissors

Begin by measuring the height of your basket and double that length. Cut 10-12 strips of each of your yarn colors in this size. Next, fold one piece of yarn in half and thread the folded end into the top hole of the basket.
Pick up the tail part of the yarn and thread it through the loop and pull to tighten the yarn around the top lip of the basket.

Next, repeat with all your yarn to fill the front of the basket.

The last step is to trim the yarn into a slant, v, or any shape you like best.

Who knew such a simple project could bring so many cozy vibes to a space? Now pardon me while I go buy all the baskets and adorn them with yarn! xo. Kara
