DIY It – Copper Toilet Paper Holders

Is anything as glamorous as talking about toilet paper holders? I think not. Well, of course I am joking, but today I wanted to show you how to make these super simple DIY copper toilet paper holders. I might have mentioned that I am on a copper pipe kick at the moment. After stumbling upon a list of the top copper pipe DIY’s to try, I couldn’t help but try out my own DIY using the versatile material. My first project was to create both a toilet paper holder and a back stock tp roll holder.

I love the minimalist yet industrial look of copper piping and its uses are really endless. As far as cost goes, the whole project cost me $16 ($25 if you don’t have a pipe cutter on hand). So only $8 for each holder which is pretty awesome for such modern looking bathroom fixtures. Follow along below to make your own DIY copper toilet paper holders.

The Supplies:

  • 4 feet of 1/2″ copper pipe cut to the following lengths using a copper pipe cutter (2 – 15″ pieces, 1 – 2.5″ piece, 1 – 6″ piece, 1 – 3″ piece, 1 – 5.25″ piece, and 1 – 1.25″ piece)
  • 4 – 1/2″ copper end caps
  • 5 – 1/2″ copper 90° elbows
  • 4 copper pipe brackets
  • screws and mollies if mounting on drywall
  • copper pipe epoxy or super glue

For the back stock TP roll holder you will want the materials listed above. Then just assemble by putting a bit of epoxy or super glue on the end of the pipes and then using the elbow bends and end caps to assemble a U shaped piece like so.

You will then using the copper pipe mounting brackets, screws (and mollies if needed) to attach your TP holder to the wall.

Not that difficult, right? This holder can accommodate up to 4 rolls of TP, but feel free to adjust the 15″ pipe pieces larger or smaller to hold more or less toilet paper as you wish.

Now for the holder for the toilet paper that is in use. You will take the remaining pieces and assemble according to the picture below. The long 6″ piece is on the top, then the 3″ piece down the side, then the 5.25″ piece on the bottom, and finally the 1.25″ piece up the other side. End caps will go on each open end. And be sure to glue each fitting on as you assemble your TP holder.

Once it is assemble, use your screws to mount it on the vanity or wall and that is it! Add your toiler paper and you are ready to get down to business (ha!).

I ended up putting these two holders in my guest bathroom that already has a tribal
industrial look. And they fit in well, except I am not sure about the copper mixed with the gold of the mirror and shelves. I may try
spray painting the copper gold to match. What do you think about the copper mixed with the
gold? Should I keep them as is, or have everything match?

I also recently purchased a new vanity and sink from Ikea that is just waiting to be installed. When that happens I hope to upgrade the faucet to either a brushed brass or matte black one to get rid of the silver and make all the metal finishes in here a bit more cohesive. Then all that will be left is that hand towel holder. Maybe I need to fashion a new hand towel holder with some of my leftover copper. What do you all think?

The first thing i thougth when i looked at the last pic was that the copper and gold seam to clash a bit. I'd spray it brass or gold. I think a black faucet would be good instead of brass just to break the brass and gold. Your towel rail could be the steam pipe to match what you've done with the pendant lights.

I can see your dilemma. I think you should have all of it match. Spray painting the copper brass/gold is a great idea and would look lovely
