DIY It – Disco Ball Candle Holders

Like the song says, “I am all about the disco balls”. Wait, that’s not how the song goes. But maybe is should! The holidays need a little sparkly and shine and incorporating disco balls is a no brainer. These DIY disco ball candle holders are just the perfect touch of glam for your holiday party and they are oh so easy to make! I mean. Just look at them! Dying.

Materials:

Begin by removing the ornament cap and loop, then remove the mirrors from the ball top to create a 3/4″ opening. Use the x-acto knife to cut out an opening just large enough for the candle stick. For the large disco ball, the center was hollow, so the candle was able to fit down inside the ball a bit to keep it stable. For the small ornaments, I dug down almost all the way to the bottom so it wouldn’t be so top heavy when the candle was put in it.

Once you have the space for the candle on the top, turn the ball over and remove a few more mirrors from the bottom to create a 1-1.5″ opening. Use the hot glue gun to create a pile of glue on a piece of wax paper or silicone baking mat and then press the bottom of the disco ball into the pile of glue to create a sturdy and flat base.

Once the glue has cooled, you can insert your candles and line up your pretty new candle holders in the center of your dining table or on your mantel. I would also recommend using dripless candles for the these because I wouldn’t want to have to pick off melted wax from all those mirrors. These candles were from World Market and are more for show. I will use my white dripless ones for when I want to light the candles. But in all honesty, these look pretty good even unlit!
