Behind the Scenes – Preparing for Atlanta Market

filed under

I will be leaving in exactly one week to begin setting up my booth for the Atlanta International Gift and Home Furnishings show, so I figured it was about time to share a little of what I have been working on behind the scenes. Many of you may know that I actually started my crafty endeavors (way back in 2005) with my handbag and accessories company, Kailo Chic. That also explains a little about my blog name, A Kailo Chic Life (or the lifestyle component to my business where I share recipes, DIY’s, and home decor and party ideas).

Well, in the last year I started to see how well you all responded to all my DIY home decor projects here, so I started selling them already completed in my shop for those of you that like them but don’t want to actually make them. Which is totally cool by me! Then I started to see that stores really loved all the new gift type items too, so after a little thinking, I jumped in feet first and created a gift line based on a few past DIY projects and a few new ideas. And I will officially be launching the new collection at the Atlanta gift show next week!!! (Insert nervous and excited screams here! Ha!)

While I love making bags still, I feel so inspired by all the new pieces and home decor accessories really is my passion, so being able to create my own collection has been a dream and one that I hope to continue by creating new pieces each season.

My collection has a little bit of everything for work, home and play including these fun gradient planters, bottle openers, and trinket dishes.

As well as pillows, vases, and a collection of ceramic appetizer plates, gradient glasses, and cocktail shakers for the perfect colorful bar cart.
Now that I have the samples, and my booth is reserved, it’s time to sell! The scary part is that most of the pieces I am having manufactured require me to purchase at least 2000 of them! If I can’t get the orders, all these pieces that I worked so hard on will just become a unique one of a kind sample.
So, if you know of anyone who is a buyer for a store that loves color and pattern as much as me, let them know I will be at the Atlanta gift show in building 3, floor 5, booth 2707!

Thanks so much for taking a peek at my collection and wish me luck! I will be sure to update you next week with a picture of my booth and everything I have learned! xo. Kara

That's so exciting and the best of luck! You always have the most fun and creative ideas!

You might listen to the latest episode of Tsh Oxenreider's podcast The Simple Show. She's doing a whole series about Women's Work, and episode 82 was with Liz of Sseco designs. She actually discusses a little bit about how she got her products into stores. http://theartofsimple.net/podcast/82/

Have a ton of fun at the show!
