Paint It – Fruit Slice Appetizer Plates

filed under

Summer is on the horizon and I got a good glimpse of it this past weekend when we took a dip in the pool. The warm weather, fresh tasty food, and plenty of cool drinks. Summer, I am ready for you! With all that summer fun, I am going to need a few new plates to help celebrate the season, so I whipped out my ceramic paint and got to work painting a few little appetizer plates in various fruit slice patterns. They turned out perfect and I am going to share how you too can make your own!

Now, sure, I could have used round plates to more closely mimic actual fruit slices, But I kind of like the square plates better. A little more unique!

The Supplies:

Begin by cleaning the plates with soap and water, drying and then cleaning with a little rubbing alcohol. Then use the ceramic paint to paint on your fruit slice images. You may need to mix the colors to get the perfect shades. Once the first layer is dry, come back for a second layer to get your colors nice and saturated. Once you colors are perfect, place the plates in a cold oven, heat to 350°F. Let the plates bake for 30 minutes, then turn off the oven and let the plates cool in the oven.

Once the plates are cool, they are ready to use! Pair with fresh fruit salad, dessert, or even a savory watermelon salad. However you use them, they are sure to make your summer that much more fruity and fun!
