DIY It – Spin Art Easter Eggs

filed under

I am not going to lie, I have been racking my brain for close to a month trying to think of a new way to decorate Easter eggs that hasn’t already been done. I’ve gotta tell you that we bloggers have pretty much saturated the Easter DIY market. Everything I could think of had already been done and I was at a creative roadblock. Then the idea to use my kids spin art machine struck and viola! Spin art Easter eggs!

Now, while they may look fairly similar to marbled eggs, this method is so much more fun for the kids. And adults.

The Supplies:

  • Hand operated or battery operated spin art machine
  • Poster putty or double stick wall mount tape
  • Wood Eggs (feel free to use real hard boiled eggs or plastic eggs too)
  • Matte Acrylic Craft Paint
  • Disposable mini water cups
  • Pipettes

Begin by placing a bit of poster putty on the center of the spin art machine to help keep the eggs from rolling away. Then place your egg right there in the putty.

Next, add a tsp or so of paint to your cup and add a few drops of water to thin it out a bit. You want to make sure that it is fluid enough to be able to get sucked int the pipette and drop out and spread on the egg.

Once you have your paints mixed up, turn the egg and drop on your paint. My kids had a blast taking turns spinning and dropping paint on their eggs. Once your egg is complete, move it to a piece of parchment to dry and repeat with all your other eggs.

I love the matte look of the paint mixed with the wood tones of these wooden Easter eggs. And that marbled effect isn’t bad either!

Maybe! As long as you can spin it with the lid off.

Way, way more fun than the watercolor marble eggs. I am going to have to try this one this Easter. I love putting fun colored and intricately decorated eggs out for my spring decor, these would be perfect!
