DIY It – A Confetti Side Table

filed under

Just a warning, I am on a little confetti kick right now and have several projects in the works with confetti! I am sure you don’t mind a little extra confetti. Right? I am pretty sure we can all use more confetti in our lives! First up on the confetti train is this cute confetti side table. A simple white table from Ikea, a little confetti, and some outdoor Mod Podge is all you need to add a little party to your everyday table needs.

The Supplies:

  • Tissue paper and gold shred confetti (I cut several sizes from tissue paper from Target and added in some pre-cut confetti from online to get the perfect color mix)
  • Outdoor Mod Podge
  • Foam Brush
  • White Side table (I got this one at Ikea for $20)

Begin by making your confetti. I didn’t want to coat my table in confetti, so I only needed a 2-3 cups of confetti, but if you want to completely cover your table, you will need quite a bit more.

Now that you have your confetti, use your foam brush to brush on a coat of mod podge to a portion of the table top and lay on your confetti making sure it is well adhered to the surface. Continue around the table adding your confetti to the entire table top. Now let the mod podge dry. Once dry, come back and paint on a thick layer of mod podge over the confetti. Let dry and repeat 2-3 more times to build up a good covering on top of the confetti.

Once the last layer has dried and cured for a few days, you are ready to assemble and use your table. And depending on how many coats of mod podge you used (and really how well you covered the tissue paper), you can even used this table outside or on your patio. Talk about the perfect spring spruce up!

Love it! Just went to Ikea to buy my own table to replicate this! Question: where did you get the white decor piece you placed on the table? I love it and want it for my table when it's done! Thank you!

Yay! The white piece is a large candle lantern from World Market. I just used it as a vase!
