Decorate It – A Valentine’s Day Mantel

A mantel can be one of those places in your home that gets a
makeover every season or holiday. It’s a small amount of space and an easy
place to change up decor quickly and with minimum investment. This year I didn’t get around to doing much decorating for Valentine’s day, but I was able to makeover my mantel, so today I will share how I decorated this space quickly with the help of Joann fabric and craft stores. I decided on a theme of wood, flowers,
and gold for my Valentine’s day mantel and am so in love with how it turned out!

The focal point of my mantel is the LOVE sign that I created
using faux wood veneer, faux succulents and flowers, and paper mache
letters
. You can find the full tutorial for the sign

.
Playing off the wood look I added in a few wood risers and candles
and made some modern tropical wood wreaths out of embroidery hoops.
To make your own wreaths you will need the inner ring of wood
embroidery hoops
, faux
flowers
, faux palm leaf stems, and hot glue. Begin by bending the palm
leafs to match the curve of the hoop and then glue into place off center. Then
simply glue on a few faux flowers. Repeat several times with different sized
hoops for a nice collection of modern wreaths.

For the gold part of the mantel I added in a gold metal
candle hurricane (found in store), a few gold
mercury glass candle votives turned bud vases
, and a couple taper candle
holders with pink ombre candles.

The final addition was an ombre vase of flowers and some fun
sparkly heart shaped lights (both of these were also found in store).
I love that this mantel reads Valentine’s Day and love
without being overtly pink and red all over. So, tell me, how do you like to
decorate your mantel for Valentine’s Day?
