If you have ever doubted the magic that is hot glue, you will be a full convert after this post. It may sounds like I am overselling it, but hot glue is more than just glue. Can you believe that these were made with hot glue?! Not only can these be made with only two supplies that you likely already have on hand, but they are super affordable (just hot glue and paint) and quick to make! Follow along below for the details.

The Supplies:

  • Hot Glue
  • Black acrylic paint or black spray paint
  • Paint brush
  • Parchment or wax paper

Begin by using your hot glue gun to create a spider web pattern on the parchment. Make the center x-star shape and then connect all the lines with the web. Let the glue cool and then remove from the parchment and pull or cut off any stray glue strings.

Place back on the parchment and use a paint brush and acrylic paint (or spray paint) to paint the spider webs. Remove the webs when the paint is still wet and transfer to a clean piece of parchment to finish drying. This will prevent any extra paint from sticking to the webs. Once the paint is dry you are ready to use them however you like. Sure they make sure fun coasters, but I also used them as plate decorations on my Halloween table.

Fun, right?! And you can even make huge webs to use as a placemat too! Now my head is spinning with other possibilities for hot glue. So you have any fun uses for hot glue aside from regular gluing?

Hi, these coasters are really nice, even to hang up on my window panes with the suction cup holders. But I have a question, I saw the black and white drinking straws with little skulls which to me look like lollipops. I have seen the flat skull lollipops but not ones like you shown here. Can you tell me where you got them? Are they edible or just plastic skull heads? I looked all around the website and couldn't find where you mentioned getting those. If you don't mind, can you please share where you got those cute heads, thanks.
