DIY It – Succulent Soap

filed under

I love playing around with melt and pour soap. It is seriously as easy as melting cubes of glycerine soap base in a microwave and pouring in a mold of your choice. Sure you can get complicated with colors, layers, and add-ins, but sometimes its fun to do something simple. These succulent soap bars are just that. Simple to make but oh so fun to use and display in your bathroom. Bonus, they make a pretty cool gift too!

Begin by cutting your melt and pour soap into approximately 1″ cubes. Then place in your glass measuring cup and microwave for 30 seconds – 1 minute. You want the soap to just melt but not begin to boil.
Once melted, pour your soap base into the molds to cover just the bottom 1/4 of an inch with soap. Let sit for 30 minutes to harden, then place your succulents on top of the first layer of soap.

You will need to melt your soap again by placing it back in the microwave for another 30 seconds or so, until it is just melted. Then gently pour the soap over the succulents to encapsulate them in the soap. Let the soap cool and harden for another 30 minutes to and hour, then you can unmold them.

I love how they almost resemble specimens from a lab or museum. It’s like a little piece of preserved flora that you can wash your hands with!
