Decorate It – Adding Succulents to Abstract Photos

filed under

To tell the truth, I am not that into portrait or traditional art, but I do love me abstract art. I have a few in my office that you may have seen in my Gallery Wall Wednesday and Home Tour Tuesday posts about my office, and I also tried my hand at one a few weeks ago. I love how the colors flow and work with each other in abstract paintings. I also love when abstract paintings are paired with plant life, it feels so fresh and natural.

Well, I thought, why not combine these two into one? So I took a shadow box IKEA rib a frame ($9.99), a few faux succulents I picked up at the craft store, and an abstract print I got off of Joss and Main and created a fun little “living” art piece.

I just clipped various faux succulent pieces and placed them in two corners of my frame. I made sure to use large pieces that would fill the space between the glass and the art and sort of get pinned into place once the back was added.

Then all that was left was to put the art in and replace the back of the frame.

See what I mean? They go together so well and really add another layer or interest to the art. Why not try it for yourself and let me know what you think?
